Who we are

A Vibrant Learning Environment

Jersey College of Law was created in 2020 in order to give a professional yet tailored experience to students of law in Jersey and overseas. Our aim is to provide expert teaching in-person and online using experienced professors in their own fields and making use of the latest technology.

The Head of the College is Professor Claire de Than who has over 20 years of experience in Trust law, Criminal law, Human Rights and Property law, amongst others. She has held appointments in three London University colleges, and is the author of more than 80 legal publications, with the inclusion of 15 books, such as de Than, Criminal Law (OUP 2016) and de Than and Shorts, International Criminal Law and Human Rights (Sweet and Maxwell 2004). She has advised several governments and many organisations on law reform, criminal law, human rights and the law of consent.

The Head of Student Services is Cairistiona "Cass" Annan BA, who has experience in student welfare management and will be responsible for the main administration of the college. Both Claire and Cass are members of the Jersey Law Commission where Cass has been Secretary for five years.

Together with Professor de Than, our teaching team consists of Professors Jesse Elvin, Aurora Herrera and Elina Steinerte. Meet the professors.
